Bone Remodeling & Inflammation Research Laboratory

Research Interest

Bone is a dynamic tissue that continuously undergoes remodeling, involving the removal of mature bone tissue by osteoclasts and the formation of new bone tissue by osteoblasts. An imbalance in remodeling process is due to excessive osteoclastic bone resorption or reduced osteoblastic bone formation, or both, and is the underlying cause for bone-related disorders such as osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, etc. Our research aims to elucidate the molecular mechanisms driving bone remodeling, with a focus on inflammatory signaling in osteoclasts and osteoblasts, as well as their interactions with immune cells to develop new approaches for treating bone and its associated disorders.
